Spotify, the popular music-hosting app, has launched a new feature called “token-enabled playlists.” This function allows specific NFT holders to access exclusive content and interact with the app differently.

Partnership with Overlord

The company has partnered with a start-up called Overlord for this function’s initial rollout. Overlord recently tweeted that the pilot would be available in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand, but only on Android devices and accessible to Creepz NFT holders. By holding an NFT, users can gain access to a holder-curated playlist. Spotify has confirmed the partnership with Overlord in a tweet response.

Kingship Key Card NFTs

The Kingship, a Bored Ape Yacht Club derivative music group, has also announced its participation in the trial. The Universal Music Group created the Kingship, and the playlist will be exclusively available to Kingship Key Card NFT holders.

Spotify and NFTs

This is not the first time Spotify has experimented with NFTs. Last year, it allowed a group of artists, including Steve Aoki and The Wombats, to promote their NFTs on the app.

Exclusive Access to Music through NFTs

The implementation of token-enabled playlists highlights the increasing use of NFTs, which are digital assets that can represent ownership of unique items such as art, music, or video. In this instance, users who hold specific NFTs gain exclusive access to music. This development is just one example of how blockchain technology is revolutionizing the way people interact with digital assets.
